My evenings

I really enjoy my evenings lately. I don't know if it just comes with age or what, but there is just something about evening time. The one thing that I could do without is Mosquitos. Yup they could all fall off the earth.

I consider my evenings to start when the girls go to bed, I call it mommy time. I NEED this time. I love my children, don't get me wrong. I just really enjoy being able to do something's and not worry about what there up too. So at 7p.m on the dot it's all about me.

Depending on what I'm all ready wearing I usually change into something that is a little more mosquito proof.

I love my comfy clothes! Oh and dont forget the shit kickers!

So first we start with April, she can be a turd. If I don't feed her first she follows me around biting the fish food out of the pond, or licking up the chicken feed off the dirt run. Shell also devour Harley's cat dish as well. See I told you she is a turd. Thought she is one lively doggie.

Now off to the coop where my "other kids" come running up to me. They free range ALL DAY, so you think they would be full. They'll prove you wrong. The minute they see me with there bucket, it's all over.
As for Harley poor guy has to wait till April goes to bed for the night. There weird together they could be laying right next to each other buying poor Harley comes walking across the field, April will go chasing him away. So Harley got smart and waits. Then goes and eats on the deck. The safe zone.

Then last, though certainly not least you have my good ole buddy Mr. Jumpsalot. This little guy is going to be 1 year old this coming June. I cant believe that we have had him this long already. He is super spoiled, he gets fresh veggies and fruits and whatever else his little bunny body will let him eat. Hes so in love with his fresh food, that I kid you not I will put some pellets in his bowl just because Im trying to get rid of his bag of pellets. He will straight up hop over to his bowl and tip it OVER! True story. lol . His new home has like a built in potty screen on the floor. He will even go to the extreme and push his bowl over to it and then flip it and everything will go down. He doesnt use the potty screen thing, because one of the first things I taught him was to use his litter box.

Well I think I have covered everyone for my evening to myself. The only other thing that I do is water my gardens, and my flower beds. Then grab a bottled water and sometimes a good book, and then hit the sack.

Good NIGHT!

Little Update......

So as far as the Sustainable Eats Challenge is going, we our right on track. Everything is being reused in someway or another. Getting composted, or given to Mr. Jumpsalot if hes aloud to eat it. :) So the soil building area is covered for the month also. Getting a tiller soon so I can really mix it up with the garden area. Cant wait!

We have been getting our seeds ready for this up coming spring. I have marked on the calendar recently when I shall be starting things indoors, moving things outdoors, and planting directly into the earth. I'm super excited for the fact that I have the Mr.'s kinda excited to help out! Were expanding our garden by hmmmm, ALOT! Ill take pictures as we go through the expansion progress.

Also we our getting ready for the goats. I have been walking around the property scoping out areas to fence off there pin. Its not going to be a little pin, there going to be spoiled I will tell you that now. I was going to start building there house this week, but the weather took a spin towards the colder side. So that will have to wait a little while or Ill just man up and get out there.

Mr. was actually talking about wanting to raise some pigs. I wasn't expecting for him to say this so I had to take a step back. Though I'm all for it so yeah. Whatever gets him involved :). Have I mentioned that I have a bit of a pig themed kitchen, lol. I have had a pig obsession since I was 12, lets just end it at that.

Holy EGGS! that's all I have to say. They have been laying for alittle over a month now. I have been keeping track on the calendar daily of how many eggs I receive. It was for a couple weeks about 1 egg, 1 egg, then 3 eggs and again. Then its turned into 3 eggs , 5 eggs, 4 eggs and then the cycle repeats and that's were we are at now. So for having 7 chickens that's alot of eggs I think. Though this coming March we are adding to our chicken family by alot.

Thanks for reading, please subscribe and leave a comment! :)

The chicken that layed the egg.....

I was recently asked if all my girls were still laying? Why yes they are, though I know my black hens are laying some were else that I cant find. She asked how I knew it was them that weren't laying in the nest. I said each girl lays there own type of egg, shape, and color. She was in aww really???

So the other day I brought down my pack of eggs. I began showing her each egg and comparing the differences. I proceeded with:

  • Mamas~~ eggs are small and dainty and the lightest in color
  • Elma's~~ eggs are just a little bigger and a little darker in color
  • Peanut Butters~~ eggs are these nice tanish brown ones a little large in size but more longatetide
  • My no named Black hen~~ eggs are the largest by far, with a white base with tan specks all over, you have to look close sometimes to see the speckles.

So there you have it every chicken lays there own egg. :)

Enjoy and please leave some love.
